Login problems

May 14th, 2008 | marketing guy - Jan Lukacs

Several Paymo users contacted us about login problems. We’re investigating this issue and we’re hoping to get it fixed as soon as possible. If you have any problems logging into your manager interface please notify us.

Update: the problems were caused by a PHP accelerator software recently installed on the Paymo servers. The software was disabled until the compatibility issues are found and fixed. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this might have caused.

Paymo Commercial is here!

March 19th, 2008 | marketing guy - Jan Lukacs

Dear Paymo users, we’re happy to announce that the commercial version of the Paymo Time Tracker is now available.
Upgrading your account to the commercial version is very easy, all you have to do is visit the Settings section of your manager account, and click on the "Change" link next to your account type.

Filling in the form with the number of employees you wish to track will yield the monthly cost of the subscription (the formula is very simple, you pay $3.99/user/month).

For companies with 30+ employees we have a special offer, for $150/month you can track a unlimited number of employees using Paymo.
All payments are made through PayPal for maximum security and ease of use.

We’d also like to announce a new feature that was requested by a lot of our users, namely Project Templates. If you have repetitive tasks in the majority of the projects you work on, this feature will make it really easy to set up a new project based on a previously saved project template. As always, if you have any questions feel free to contact us and we’ll do the best we can to help.

Why time tracking is important

February 26th, 2008 | marketing guy - Jan Lukacs

Recently i’ve stumbled a interesting article that i’d like to share with you. It’s called “Good reasons to do time tracking” from a blog called Better Projects.

Here’s an excerpt (whole article here):

Staffing - Several people avoided layoffs because I could show exactly what they were working on and how long they spent doing it. We also could show that we needed more people in order to do additional projects in the time frame management required it.

Project delivery dates - Because we had good historical data on actual times vs. estimates, our estimates were given more credibility by management. Instead of management insisting on an unreasonable delivery date, they accepted ours.

Planning when new projects could be started - When management saw that staff was fully loaded for the next few months, they reprioritized their projects to fit the staffing schedule.

I could not agree more with the author, and i believe that a streamlined time tracking solution gives a project manager the edge. If you have real data you can plan and quote accordingly without risking your business and credibility.

If you’re a freelancer i believe it’s extremely important to do correct tracking of your time, because you are a person who owns his own job and is his own boss, thus all the decisions you make are reflected directly in your income.

Paymo - What’s next?

February 7th, 2008 | marketing guy - Jan Lukacs

We’ve received a lot of feedback, and many of you have asked for new features. We’ve compiled a list of the most popular user requests and added our own ideas. Here’s what we will be working on in the following months:

  • Invoicing Module - This will be a commercial upgrade, that will allow you to create branded invoices based on your time reports
  • API - We’ll be releasing an API that will allow anyone with programming skills to use the data stored in their Paymo accounts
  • Project & Task Priorities - This is a very popular request, that will enable setting priorities to projects and tasks, and display them accordingly in the widget
  • Windows App Idle Detection - We’ll be adding a idle feature to the windows app, that will stop the timer if there’s no activity on the computer.
  • Usability Upgrades

If you feel you can contribute, please send us comments via the blog.

The fight goes on!

February 4th, 2008 | marketing guy - Jan Lukacs

We’re working daily on getting rid of the pesky bugs, so we’d like to thank you for your continued support and great feedback.
All your messages are read and analysed by our development guys, and we’re doing our best to minimize downtime that might be caused by bugs.

This week we’ll post a couple of new features here on the blog, that we’ll be adding in the future. They are either things we wanted to do from start, but didn’t have the time to implement or suggestions from our growing user base. Stay tuned, and feel free to post comments.
